WhatsApp & messages
After a call, Bonnie can send the caller a WhatsApp message with whatever helps them: a menu, a booking link, your location, or a contact address. If WhatsApp is not available on the caller's number, she can fall back to SMS.
Bonnie on WhatsApp
Same Bonnie, now on WhatsApp. Your restaurant is available 24/7 on the channel your guests already use, and every message is answered instantly.
Guests can book, change, or cancel a reservation over WhatsApp, ask about the menu, and send group or event requests with full context, all in the language of the conversation. Bonnie syncs with your reservation system just like on the phone, and sends instant follow-ups such as booking confirmations and deposit reminders. It is the same assistant across phone and WhatsApp, and WhatsApp conversations are stored alongside your call records.
The widget on your website
You get a personalised WhatsApp widget for your own website, styled to match your branding. Guests tap it and start a WhatsApp chat with Bonnie right away, next to the phone line. Bonnie also connects to your Google Business Profile, so guests can reach you in one tap straight from your website and your Google listing.
You can see it live on our own website, https://bonnie.ai. Try it there, or message Bonnie directly on WhatsApp: https://wa.me/31854021190.
To add the widget to your website, reach out via Get help and we set it up with you.
Always reachable
- Your own WhatsApp number, in the name of your restaurant.
- A WhatsApp button on your website and on your Google profile, so guests can ask their question there and book straight away.
- Guests save your number automatically. That makes WhatsApp ideal for guests who book again, and for questions about group requests and events.
- Bonnie always answers on WhatsApp right away, also when your team is busy. So on WhatsApp there is no delayed version, the reply is always instant.
More requests
- Group requests and events: picked up immediately.
- Reservations: straight into your system.
- Questions about the menu, opening times and parking: 24/7.
How it works
- Bonnie sends the message after the call, in the language of the conversation.
- Messages go through an approved WhatsApp Business template.
- A message is up to 900 characters.
A caller hangs up before the booking is done
If a caller hangs up before the reservation is complete, Bonnie can finish the conversation over WhatsApp. So a dropped call does not have to mean a lost reservation.
What Bonnie can send
- Menu links.
- Location and directions.
- A booking link (handy when your reservation system is not connected directly).
- Contact email addresses (for events, jobs, and so on).
- Your website.
- Anything you set up in the post-call instructions.
Set it up
In your post-call prompt (the Tasks tab of your assistant), define when Bonnie sends a WhatsApp and what it contains. For example: "If the caller asked about the menu, send the menu link by WhatsApp." Include the exact links and email addresses you want Bonnie to use.
This also keeps email addresses and links off the call itself: instead of reading a link out loud, Bonnie offers to send it by WhatsApp.
Bonnie never reads links out loud
Bonnie does not read URLs or email addresses out on the call, they are hard to hear and easy to mistype. She offers to send them by WhatsApp instead. So if you want a caller to get a link, set it up as a post-call WhatsApp, not as something Bonnie says.
Common issues
- Message not received: check the phone number is correct in international format with a +. If the caller typed the number on the keypad, the + may be missing. Also check the caller did not block message requests.
- Caller gets an SMS instead of WhatsApp: the caller may not have WhatsApp on that number. SMS is the fallback when it is enabled.
- Message not sent at all: confirm the post-call prompt actually triggers a message for that situation. If the rule never fires, no message goes out. Check the wording on the Tasks tab.
- Same message sent twice: usually two rules cover the same situation. Remove the duplicate. Note that a deposit booking sends its own payment-link message, so do not also add a separate "send booking link" rule for deposit cases, or the caller gets two messages. See Deposit bookings.
